Modeling of magneto-conductivity of bismuth selenide: a topological insulator

چکیده

Abstract We report the magneto-conductivity analysis of Bi 2 Se 3 single crystal at different temperatures in a magnetic field range ± 14 T. The crystals are grown by self-flux method and characterized through X-ray diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Raman Spectroscopy. show magnetoresistance (MR%) around 380% T temperature 5 K. Hikami–Larkin–Nagaoka (HLN) equation has been used to fit (MC) data. However, HLN fitted curve deviates higher fields above 1 T, suggesting that role surface-driven conductivity suppresses with an increasing field. This article proposes speculative model comprising added quantum diffusive bulk carriers-driven classical terms. successfully explains MC various (5–200 K) applied (up T).

Growth of Antimony Telluride and Bismuth Selenide Topological Insulator Nanowires

Topological insulators are a relatively new class of materials, which are insulating in the bulk and conductive on the surface. Surface conductance measurements of topological insulators are often obscured by impurities in the bulk. Nanowires made of a topologically insulating material provide a solution to this problem with their large surface-area-to-volume ratio. I examine the growth procedu...

Topological insulator bismuth selenide as a theranostic platform for simultaneous cancer imaging and therapy

Employing theranostic nanoparticles, which combine both therapeutic and diagnostic capabilities in one dose, has promise to propel the biomedical field toward personalized medicine. Here we investigate the theranostic properties of topological insulator bismuth selenide (Bi2Se3) in in vivo and in vitro system for the first time. We show that Bi2Se3 nanoplates can absorb near-infrared (NIR) lase...

Measuring, interpreting, and translating electron quasiparticle-phonon interactions on the surfaces of the topological insulators bismuth selenide and bismuth telluride

The following dissertation presents a comprehensive study of the interaction between Dirac fermion quasiparticles (DFQs) and surface phonons on the surfaces of the topological insulators Bi2Se3 and Bi2Te3. Inelastic helium atom surface scattering (HASS) spectroscopy and time of flight (TOF) techniques were used to measure the surface phonon dispersion of these materials along the two high-symme...

Low-frequency current fluctuations in "graphene-like" exfoliated thin-films of bismuth selenide topological insulators.

We report on the low-frequency current fluctuations and electronic noise in thin-films made of Bi(2)Se(3) topological insulators. The films were prepared via the "graphene-like" mechanical exfoliation and used as the current conducting channels in the four- and two-contact devices. The thickness of the films ranged from ∼50 to 170 nm to avoid hybridization of the top and bottom electron surface...

Growth, Structure, and Electronic Properties of Epitaxial Bismuth Telluride Topological Insulator Films on BaF2 (111) Substrates

Epitaxial growth of topological insulator bismuth telluride by molecular beam epitaxy onto BaF2 (111) substrates is studied using Bi2Te3 and Te as source materials. By changing the beam flux composition, different stoichiometric phases are obtained, resulting in high quality Bi2Te3 and Bi1Te1 epilayers as shown by Raman spectroscopy and high-resolution X-ray diffraction. From X-ray reciprocal s...
